Unit Dose 7® Webstersystem
Less wastage, more accountability
Reducing wastage of expensive medications is always a priority for nursing staff and carers in aged care homes, and a concern for residents and relatives.
As only one type of medication is packed into each blister compartment, ceased medications are easily handled using Unit Dose 7. By applying a unique ceased label to the column of ceased medication, the rest of the pack can continue to be used until the end of the weekly cycle. Therefore, medication wastage is minimised as the pack does not have to be returned to the pharmacy.
The coloured pill images on the packs are actual size further assisting in identification. Each Unit Dose 7 pack clearly displays the brand prescribed by the doctor, the brand dispensed by the pharmacy and the generic name of the medication, reducing confusion and time wasted verifying the correct medication.
It is important that your medication management system has the following safeguards:
- Being a unit dose system, medications can be ceased or withheld without compromising the rest of the medications within the pack
- A resident photograph minimises the risk of medication being given to the wrong person, especially in the case where agency staff are administering medications and may not be familiar with the residents
- The pill image and description allows you to confidently identify medication before administering
- Ceased Medication is easily identified and by applying a ceased label to the pack, wastage of medication is reduced
- Unit Dose 7 is a complete system which includes effective management of PRN, antibiotic, S8 medication and warfarin medication
- Brand ordered, brand supplied and the generic name is clearly identifiable on the pack

Medication Management Reports
Helping with ACFI Implementation
With the ACFI implementation just around the corner, Aged Care Homes require evidence to meet their funding claims.
Webstercare has an extensive range of reports to assist you in providing documentation in areas where funding is critical and put in place programs and/or procedures to assist with work that needs to be done to ensure maximum funding is obtained for the services provided.
A range of reports enables you to be completely informed of each resident’s medication history. For example:
- The Clinical Correlation Report details all dosage changes and ceased medications over a period of time. The invaluable information contained within this one report can be used to associate falls with medication changes. This information would otherwise be a time consuming process to obtain through auditing medication charts.
- Psychotropic Drug Usage Reports can be used as a benchmark to measure the use of psychotropic drugs over a period of time and/or to benchmark your usage against other aged care homes.
- Patient Medication Profi les provide a complete medication profile including packed, non packed and PRN medications.
- All reports have a diagnosis field that ensures important diagnosis relating to behavioural areas are documented.
- These reports have been enthusiastically received by a range of people across the aged care industry including care managers and nursing staff.
